How to Use the Material Grade Finder

  1. Enter the material grade, material number or standard shown on your drawing.
  2. Narrow the results by material family or designation system.
  3. Review the available composition, properties and related-grade references.
  4. Add your quantity and application requirements to the material enquiry summary, then use it in your quote request.

Example: Checking a CF8M Requirement

If your drawing specifies CF8M, search for CF8M and review the displayed reference data. Include the drawing’s material standard, heat-treatment condition and service requirements when you contact the foundry.

A related designation such as 316 can help you locate a material family, but it does not approve a substitute for the casting grade specified on your drawing.

Scope and Limitations

This tool supports preliminary material research and comparison. Related grades are approximate references, not approved substitutes. Composition and properties may differ between specifications and material conditions.

Missing values are shown as “—”. Approximate values use “≈”, minimum values use “≥”, and maximum values use “≤”. Chemical composition is expressed as mass percent.

A grade appearing in the library does not confirm YTD’s manufacturing availability. The final material specification and production route need to be reviewed against your drawing and application requirements.
