Valve Cover Materials
Most cast engine valve covers are made from aluminum. It keeps the part light, suits ribs and integrated features, machines well at the gasket rail and connection points, and gives you plenty of finishing options.
Already have an alloy on the drawing? We quote and manufacture to that requirement. If the material is still open, share the operating environment, cover size, weight target, expected quantity, and desired finish. YTD will recommend an alloy together with a casting route that makes sense for the complete part.
We can also produce valve covers in carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, and high-temperature alloys when the application calls for different strength, heat, or corrosion performance. Your quotation records the agreed grade, condition, and material verification.

Have a Valve Cover Project?
Send the information you have today. A drawing or 3D model is ideal, but an older drawing, clear photographs, engine details, or a physical cover can also get the conversation started. We will identify what is still needed and prepare a practical manufacturing proposal.

How We Make Valve Covers
We quote the finished valve cover, not just the casting. Material, size, quantity, critical interfaces, surface finish, and the condition you want at delivery are considered together from the start.
Die casting is often a good fit for repeat aluminum production. Sand casting or investment casting may serve a different cover size, volume, tooling target, or level of detail. You do not need to choose the process before asking for a quote; send us the part and YTD will recommend a manufacturing route.
Once the route is agreed, we take care of the tooling and casting, then machine the gasket rail, holes, threads, filler neck, breather connections, sensor mounts, and other specified interfaces. Finishing, inspection, marking, and packing can follow under the same order, with one team responsible through delivery.

Valve Cover FAQs
Practical answers about starting a custom engine valve cover project with YTD.
Are valve covers, rocker covers, and cylinder head covers the same part?
The terms vary by market and engine design, but they usually refer to the cover over the valvetrain at the top of the cylinder head. Your drawing or engine information will tell us exactly which cover and interfaces you need.
Can YTD make a valve cover from an existing sample?
Yes. Send the physical cover together with any older drawing, scan, 3D model, photographs, or engine information you have. We will identify the remaining details needed before tooling and sampling.
Do I need to choose the casting process first?
No. Show us the finished cover and expected quantity. We will consider the alloy, size, geometry, tooling, machining, finish, and inspection requirements and propose a suitable route.
Which materials and finishes are available for cast valve covers?
Aluminum alloys are the usual choice. YTD can also supply carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, and high-temperature alloy covers for suitable applications. Finishing options include blasting, powder coating, painting, anodizing, polishing, and selected machined details.
Can YTD supply valve covers fully machined and finished?
Yes. We can machine the gasket rail, holes, threads, filler and breather openings, and accessory mounts, then complete the specified finish, inspection, marking, and packing.
What information helps YTD prepare a valve cover quotation?
Start with a drawing, 3D model, or sample. Include the engine or OE reference, material, quantity, critical interfaces, finish, delivery condition, target date, and inspection requirements when available.
